Feathering your Nest

Feathering your Nest

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

Expecting guests that need a soft chair and a chat ...

"
Feather Beds with "downy" dreams...

A "Raindrop Lamp made by the Himalayans...

A Book of Poetry by talented Wordsmiths...

Kneeling on a Prayer Mat where Petitions are made...

Soft Pillows where Elvis once slept with a Teddy Bear,,,

A long lost Relative that remembers the Family Farm.

The treasures that Grandma left by a Rocking Chair.

An Old Guitar that a Troubadour played when He

stole my Heart one Day.

All these things I will share

because I care.   Pat

Your beautiful memories Pat placed before us. Each one, a treasure to you. I thought of your home and what a place of comfort and love it must be. I would gladly sit in a soft chair and chat with you. I share memories of feathers in my pillows, soft and downy and Elvis whom I adored as a teenager.I loved his voice as well as his films. Thank you for your poetry Pat.

Fondly

Chris

My Grandpa Malone had a wood cook-stove and potbelly stove to heat the farm house and a attic fan for summer relief ( it was 80 in his house all year long. However in the room I slept in was a brass bed with a downy mattress made from goose feathers. It felt like you wear swaddled in a cloud.
Now making the bed was a whole other task. You had to shake it beat it. Then smooth it with the broom handle. Then make it without touching.
Man, I loved that old bed.

You surely did share some special memories Pat, and in a very vivid and soft way, a caring way. "feathering your nest" apropos for this piece; your collection of things past that make you smile, like a bird tidying his nest and putting his family in order; each one means something to you, very personal and real.
Softly,
B

You're very welcome Pat!
A beautiful read, Pat! Lovely list of remembrances and cherished things. Makes one want to look around and truly see what they have saved and the stories behind them. The stories are what makes those items special and why they bring back memories. My in-laws, from years ago, had a home full of memories like yours. As one walks through the house it became obvious that the showcased items were special and then, there were those that weren't showcased but, just the way they were placed we knew they were special with good memories attached to them. Sorry this is so wordy but, your poem brought that out of me. :) You stirred my memories, Pat. Thank you, Temp

this is beautiful, Pat. And I especially relate to the fifth and sixth lines.
I had all of Elvis' old singles from the fifties...

and that Family Farm, the Guttersons, where I spent so much of my childhood.

and that guitar reminding me of my friend Paula.

those things I have shared with you because of your poem.
thank you,
j.
