Hmmm...is this about birds or cowboys? I love how the images twist together, and such a small thing (a bird) becomes the embodiment of something much larger. I love country music. It is the soundtrack of my childhood. The image of birds doing the Boot Scootin' Boogie is going to stay with me. (Btw, if I haven't mentioned it, I lived in Fredericksburg when I was in elementary school.)

Unfortunately, on our trips to DC the only thing we could get near was the Smithsonian. Everywhere else was crammed with Vietnam protesters and impeach Nixon rallies. I don't know the first thing about line dancing. But nuthatches will literally turn themselves upside down in our trees to search for insects. An amusement for my wife to watch. So, we put out feed to attract the birds. Wonderful poem, Ma'am

A lovely poem as always
I looked up the nuthatches
what a beautiful bird,never
had any visits from them
mostly cardinals here in KY
like the line
" wearing a black Stetson
waiting for the band ..great
Imagery with artistic expression
wishing you a Happy New year
and many blessings..
I am always jealous of the variety of birds that visit you
Global warming has added a few wayward wanderers here but mostly it is hummingbirds, chickadees, juncos and an increasing number of stellar jays.
It has been a bad year for them all with excessive heat, drought, fires, rain and now snow
We support a large number by our back door under an overhead deck that keeps the ground somewhat snow free and they seem to be dealing with the sub-zero temps
It would be a lesser place without these fuzzy flappers
Hope your new year goes well

It is a pleasure to see them up close and personal on our old Deck from the large Kitchen Window. Lots of Cardinals and a few Chickadee’s now and then. Larger Bluejays visit.. but only stay a day or so. I give the Squirrels and Ravens shelled Peanuts to divert their attention. I subscribe to Birds and Blooms Magazine, so I write about many Feathered friends here in Fredericksburg, Virginia by the Rappahannock River. Happy New Year 2022 .. Be blessed. Prayers for everyone… tenderly, Pat
Nicely written Pat one can hear the steps in tune with the music. HNY to you and your loved ones.

Only sparrows left in Michigan. Smart birds are in Florida. Hello dear Pat.
You really do have magical eyesight, dear friend!. Y ou're able to create characters from avian movements, make thoughts rise and fall in such a picturesque way. Love it! Can only guess the cowboy who stayed ready to 'tango' has a name starting with R!!
Am okay now, thank you. You and your darling, take care, keep safe.. please. xx

My parents were amazing dancers, always cleared the floor. They taught me dances from the 50’s on up, including Mexican line dancing and country western line dancing, the tango, the waltz all of it, then add my clubbing days and I have decades of twinkle toes. Oh, good times back then.
