Frost on the Pumpkin

Frost on the Pumpkin

A Poem by Patricia Wedel

When Autumn chills the Air with cool kisses
we wander down the rows of Pumpkins
basking in the Sun... remembering the Fun
when we were young and foolish and a bit Goulish...
The Scare Crows were charming and a bit alarming
when they spoke and began to dance and romance...
The Cornstalks with Silky soft Angel hair began to
sing "let me call you Sweetheart" at the end of Summer...

Hi Patricia, This is a truly wonderful piece of whimsical poetry. Autumn has to be my favourite season and this song of Autumn does sing for me. Your gentle words forever paint such wonderful, soft images that make the heart sing. An awesome write. Have a wonderful Wednesday. Hugs always....Mike.

This poem is a slam-dunk! You've knocked it out of the pumpkin patch with (1) great autumn imagery, (2) great internal rhyming, and (3) "Let me call you sweetheart" -- that song is such a great pick for this poem. I love the photo of you & Roger. The pumpkins on your hearth. I can picture the pumpkin patch where you two are playing around like kids. It's all there. This poem has it all. I think it's the best poem I've ever read from you . . . at least in 2021! *wink! wink!* I'm happy that you have a warm loving friendship & longtime love affair that inspires you to such heights! This is a delightful nostalgic autumn poem. Pumpkins always make me think of Halloween. Each year I make pumpkin soup after we have made our pumpkin lanterns. Thank you dear Pat and have a lovely day.

A sweet tribute to this time of year Pat. You capture the fall season so eloquently in your poem. The rows of pumpkins and also the description of the cornstalks which to me define fall. Thank you for this colorful piece of poetry.
