Painted Lady

Painted Lady

A Poem by Patricia Wedel

My heart flutters like a Painted Lady Butterfly

as the soft raindrops are caught like sequins

on rose petals as the music of the Lark brings

memories of orchestrated violins...

The azure blue of caring eyes and sighs

of romantic Rendezvous spent with you...

I become entranced by the embrace of your Smile

“The azure blue of caring eyes and sighs”
The play of colors and ethereal imageries intertwine so well with the entire poem. this brings back a strong sense of Saudade, each line has it's own magical impact on the reader. Absolutely beautiful!

Your eyes see, your experience of the world around you make - the most beautiful poetry. Seems the smallest and the greatest ''whatever' becomes equally precious.. which of course, each should be. Don't you think? The Painted Lady and all other fragile fluttering beauties turn smiles and tears into subtle cures and love divine all loves .........- Thank you for every word, dear Petal.

I love your metaphor and the softness of your words to show us the memories of love between the two;
such expressions in the blue eyes; the music of the Lark (always a bird, so metaphoric);to put the icing on the cake, a smile captivates. Oh those lost rendezvous'; now only a memory.
Love the poem, Pat
Best, B

You’re very welcome
what a beautiful poem, Pat. And thank god for those sequins....I would hate to see those rose petals totally nude...I would blush, big time.

You have to admire something so delicate as to look balletic as nature tries it's mightiest to blow it into next Tuesday. If you slow your breathing and listen very carefully, you will perhaps hear the butterfly saying "Wheeeee! Is that all ya got? More, more!" but be warned, butterfly is notoriously difficult to understand 😊🦋😊
