The Words of Yesterday

The Words of Yesterday

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

The sound of a voice that was never heard

"
Only words to be written in the Sands of time

never to be heard on this Earth...

A close friend chooses not to hear your voice

with smart phones only a moment away...

Poetry is a Song with melodies that linger...

dear Poets... when the Artist Train wrote the
Song "Drops of Jupiter" for his Mother who passed away.
His words linger in our Hearts ...
although he also remembers the sound of her Voice.
As poets, we cannot always sing our Poems to be heard.
However, as poets we can imagine how it would sound with Violins
and a Harp and perhaps a Clarinet. truly, Pat

Poetry is felt more often than heard and I feel that good music is much the same. I like Dickinson's explanation of what poetry is. "If I read a book and it makes my whole body so cold no fire can warm me I know that is poetry. If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry. These are the only way I know it." I have a smart phone. I don't carry it with me and I seldom take or make calls on it though. I might call my eldest now and then on it or send a video chat to my grandchildren. I enjoyed the read.

Let's do away with smart phones and write and read poetry instead; it's so melodious and calming. Poetry lingers in your memory, talk doesn't always.
Nice brevity poem

I still seek conversation and the funny part. You surprise people. You are talking to them. Cell phone world my friend. Nuts. My wife watches movies on her cell phone with a 40 inch TV in front of her. Hello dear Pat and I do understand your words. Thank you for sharing your amazing words and your thoughts.

Your heartfelt & smoothly-wafting words harken to the days when more people might've chosen their words more wisely, as some would say. When we took time to write out our sentiments, giving things adequate deliberation & infusing our words with as much truth & kindness as we could muster. I fear these days people are just zooming by with a flippant remark & often this doesn't really feel like love & friendship to me (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Sometimes we need to focus more on the moment we are in and have those personal connection with friends and loved ones.

Much sadness in these lines. The loss of a friendship is difficult to contemplate, especially if the friend is still living. I have lost friends who I know would love to make contact if they could. They are in the heavens floating on high, in a peaceful restful sky. I can hear a soulful violin playing in the background here. There will always be poetry. Sending love across the pond Pat.

I feel real sadness through your words, a voice needed to be heard but never been heard, it's maybe too late to be heard, but as You wrote dearest Pat in your beautiful last line, "Poetry is a Song with melodies that linger...".
