Fragrant Kiss of a Peony

Fragrant Kiss of a Peony

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

Kissing the Blarney Stone endows the kisser with the gift of gap.. beside Blarney Castle in Cork, Ireland. Gap: (great eloquence or skill at flattery).

"
Soft and gentle... a kiss that lingers within unspoken moments

when two hearts fold their Petals into one life of fragrant embraces...

Small buds of new beginnings emerge when sunshine and rain lie in

irredescent passionate rendezvous beds of blessings betrothed...

Vows exchanged with Irish melodies of Heather in a meadow

where Bagpipes play among the lavender blue thistles..

We pray for Love to heal the broken hearted who faded into

Glory.  Amen

We have peonies in our garden that have been with us for thirty eight years. Such a delicate pale pink with numerous skirt petals. I love them. I also love Ireland and its people. I love the twinkle in the eye, the humour and Irish hours. That is without touching on their beautiful scenery. Love is so powerful, it can fix anything. Many a broken heart has been soothed and healed by love. Thank you for your bouquet dear Pat. Floral offerings always a favourite with me. Love across the waves.

The setting of the piece is described beautifully, a scenario full of hope. Unless I miss my guess, though, the pandemic makes a cameo in the last line.

Your poem glorifies those precious rare & blessed moments when we connect with another human being (or other being) on some sensual level, whether it be a kiss or the kiss of spirits . . . AND your poem harkens (for me) to the book I'm writing about how my mom met the love of her life so late in her life, got married at 82 (third time) & it lasted 11 years, which is pretty amazing & heaven sent. Since I'm getting close to & leading up to their wedding chapter in my writing, your poem puts me into the spirit of how it was for them back in 2004 . . . you remind me of so many of the details that have slipped my mind . . . he (Oliver) being a "Terry" (names changed in the book) -- he's ruddy Irish all the way, so I'm even feeling this blarney link. Thanks for clarifying GAP -- good to know! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

A wonderful poem shared dear Pat and you are welcome my dear friend.
I love peonies. My mother used to grow them. This sounds like a lovely Irish wedding. And a happy early Happy St. Patrick's Day to all my Irish kin.
