Wonderfully expressed as it brings on dreams of spring, with the love of birds growing in my heart. I can only wish within my mind of these beautiful things. Lovely. ;-]

I love your amazing bird poems, especially this one about the Finch in winter, who manages to scrounge for seeds put out by kind people like you. I also love the descriptive words like “soft orange red feathers”....you always use colors in your poems , which as an artist, I so appreciate. Well written and beautiful!
Best, Betty

I enjoyed this. I'm a big fan of birds of all sorts. We get Cardinals, finches, goldfinches, red-headed woodpeckers, bluejays, chickadees, orioles, red-winged blackbirds, doves, nuthatches, and tufted titmice to name a few. They swamp the feeder for sunflower seed twice a day, in early morning and late afternoon. I put peanuts out for the squirrels and bluejays. The jays love them. Great inspiring write. F.

Yes, I also have roasted peanuts in the Shell for Squirrels. This year we have large Fat Bluejays who also fly off with Peanuts in their Beak... but they come back for Sunflower Seeds also. Once there was an Owl who sat on our Feeding Deck who just rested his mind from all his Wisdom. Thanks for stopping by. Bright Red Cardinals and Chickadees add to the Shakespearean Theatrical Display. Be Brave and Be Safe. Gently, Pat

We have great horned owls which start calling in early morning in the months of October through January when they are coming home from the hunt I guess. And we have the Barred owls that hoot at night, almost every night all summer but I never see any of them. I do see our Redtail hawks about once a week. One flew out of the woods in front of me in a great cacophony that was frightening to behold. He had a grackle in his claws and the entire flock on his tail, giving chase. He swooped low, no more than ten feet off the ground and then sored into the trees with his prey.

I know I will now go in my backyard with a different perspective. It was out of the ordinary to see an Owl 🦉 up close through our kitchen Window. I may never see one again. I enjoyed the story of your encounters (with trepidation). truly, Pat
when I was younger, I loved to garden in the misty rain. Digging up rose bushes and moving them to a better spot. Watching and listening to all the birds busy about. You have opened the garden gate, and I can see the green moss, clover, and the vivid colors that dwell within. I love the feel to this one, one the images that give it life.

A sweet bit of poetry. I’ve become an intermittent bird watcher now that I live in a place with birds. You’ve captured a moment and breathed life into it, I can see the flutter of wings

We learn so much from our avian friends Pat. Their colours and antics can give such pleasure. I will be looking for green shoots of healing in the politics in your country in the days ahead. I will be checking in on the TV coverage. Please forgive I have not responded sooner. Sadly my sis's husband has died from covid, contracted while he was in hospital. It has been most difficult for us as a family to take this in. The deaths over here are horrendous. Our only hope is in the vaccine. Take great care dear Pat. Sending love across the pond to you and yours.

Compromise can be very helpful. It is important to be frugal. Many people have earned their right to
their benefits. Immigrants need to do the same. There should be a way to provide "work" that can be done to earn the right to benefits. This is our prayer.

love the title - seed seekers indeed. birds have always fascinated me. i've been noticing them more recently. yesterday at the park by the inlet this man that i talk with spotted a grey bird with white stripes that neither of us had ever seen before. fortunately for them, we have no snow cover here right now. a very pleasant read for me this sunny day. i'm always on the lookout for birds but this just gave me a special reason to be more observant and hopeful ... :)

As I've complained about recently, we've had only 1.5" of rain since last spring. Therefore, miles of wilderness surrounding me is not one bit green, as it would be in mid-January. I am the lone green spot in these parts, with my garden, so birds flock here heavily in winter. When I look out over my garden while sitting at the computer, checking for bird issues out front, if all the flutters are at ground level, I know these are seed seekers (which I enjoy) & not broccoli peckers (which get a window rap). I sure hope we can "green up" around here by March 17. Also, I hope the current covid surge will be easing up by then with St. Brigid in charge of healing *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie
