Songs of New Adventures

A Poem by Patricia Wedel

My heart hums a lullaby along with a tufted titmouse

among the luscious Berries that surround the sanctuary...

Remembering the Glory days of Summer Romance and the dance...

We dream in the shade of the weeping willow whose age is unknown...

Dear Pat, I too am holding on to memories of my spring and summer. The days are cold, short and the nights are long. We also have the virus hovering and our country is back in full miserable lockdown. Even the birds seem to be more scarce than usual. I am hibernating indoors. Cosy by the fire, drinking plenty of hot tea and biding my time. Thankful more than ever for poetry and the joy that brings. Sending love across the waves.

A lovely poem. I’m a fan of those ageless willows that grace the waterfronts.

Good morning, dear Pat. As always you leave such beautiful words to slide side to side and endlessly. Your world seems be such a calm one ~ although we all know differently. We all have to manage and use the best of what there is, ' ..Remembering the Glory days of Summer Romance and the dance..' to keep happy. The natural world is a true gift, isn't it, dear Petal? xx

you really are most welcome Pat :)
Weeping willow trees provide lovely shade on a summer's day....a place to dream and be taken away from the strife of the pandemic and politics. Your words are lovely, Pat....but they always are! Lydi**

we had a weeping willow in our yard...the neighbor had one, and gave my dad a root to grow.
Our tree grew so big and up over the roof of his garage...the neighbor's tree died...
He was not happy over that, but what a beautiful tree...i never figured out why it cried...
but I wept with it.

unfortunately, your beautiful reference birds never seem to reach our area
however, along with hordes of blackcap, we have recently been visited by three thrush which have a beautifully haunting call
also just bought another new book by Mike Yipp who highlights all the birds in this area with beautiful photos
