Eyelashes covered with Snow

Eyelashes covered with Snow

A Poem by Patricia Wedel

Blue eyes smiled at the raptured lights lining rooftops

with turquoise tinted lights where loved ones prayed

for Grandma who was beside a warm fire with her

favorite companion... a warm overgrown Puppy.

The Music played a Christmas Waltz sung by

Ol' blue eyes Frank Sinatra... warm and sensual...

Many a Christmas memory with A Balsam Pine covered with

lights of many colors and homemade ornaments from

children grown up with babies of their own...

Priscilla cuddled up in warm flannel Pajamas and a

Cuppa hot chocolate with whipped cream and dreams.

Peach Roses in a clear Vase stood like Ballerinas on

satin toes who propose to keep a vigil on Christmas Eve...

Yes, Virginia, as long as there is love and generosity--

there is a Santa Claus.

Prayers for a huge healing miracle gladly sent for your sister-in-law Priscilla, and for you and yours as well dear Pat. I know it's so hard not to be able to be with your family now, especially when a loved one is ailing, and I pray God sends you all strength and comfort and holds you in His blessed hands. Your beautiful poem strikes all the heart-chords for me and brings back cherished memories (Yes-Old Blue Eyes!) of family Christmases past. This year my family can only share the holidays on Zoom and Facetime. We are across the miles in Florida, NY, NJ, Massachusetts. At least we can electronically see and hear each other. Life has become so alien and seemingly cruel. I put my arms around you and your Priscilla and ask God to please send you all the miracles He can muster!! xo

This is a stunning Christmas poem with vivid iamges of holiday spirit; family is close; memories of loved ones who have passed; innocence of a child with snow flakes on her eye lashes watching the Christmas lights. Prayers for those who cannot celebrate or miss seeing their families on this special holiday . I empathize with them. I am in that position as well. Lovely holiday poem Pat.
Yours, Betty

You've collected the most endearing & enduring collection of holiday imagery (love your title!) and all this fully evokes the very idea you are saying as you make your point in the last 2 lines! We can make this any kind of Christmas we decide to . . . same with 2020 . . . it's not a reject year . . . it's the year we made it into. Let's not write off bad years or people. This is the most touching Christmas poem I've read in a long, long time. Best wishes for your sis-in-law Priscilla (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Pris is in my healing thoughts, Pat. I know how much you love your sister in law. This poem is like a giant hug for her. I can almost hear Frank Sinatra singing Christmas songs and taste the delicious hot chocolate. May a Christmas Miracle heal your lovely Pris. Lydi**

I will look for it, Pat.
I loved this one:) I was walking in one of my produce stores and home for the holidays was playing and it instantly made me remember my aunt Eileen and I working on her trains for christmas they were these tiny little trains called Z gauge and i was putting one of the model houses together with a pair of tweezers. I don't know how that happened but it did I even remember the smell of the old dining room where we were working:) its funny how little things trigger such vivid memories

A perfect title Pat, for all those things that make Christmas special for young and the ever so slightly less young alike. Senses merge and bring new dimensions, where being in the moment brings now and past together.each time adding yet another layer to the now and future memories that will one day be their fond past recollections.
Now don't forget the hand sanitizer when you put out the milk and cookies for Santa and carrots for Rudolph and Co. 🎅™⛄ 🎁
