There is a beautiful, huge Sycamore by the courts where we play tennis....and just the other day,
we were all commenting on its size and shape.
something that can protect us?
we need that shelter right now...we need something to guard us from what we are dealing
with...all the sickness and hate spewing out...we need that shelter, that tree, the beauty of this poem.

If only we could work together to make our world better... by being an example of how we go about to compromise and go forward without destroying what has been proven and accomplished, albeit... not perfect. This is our Prayer. Be blessed and safe. Prayer is powerful. We have just seen an example of that in the News..
where a strong Senator has changed his position for the Good of the Country and the World. Amen.. Pat
Our feathered friends carryon regardless through the necessity of life, as we ourselves must, yet those lofty birds know theirplace in the rhthym of life, yet some of us haven't the sense toprotect our young or old, fleeing the nest to congregate, with little regard for the loved ones they should be doing their utmost to protect. And they still think they are invincible!
I don't know aboutyouPat, but I have yettohear a bird being called a covidiot.
I am still wondering how we managed to escape the food chain 😀
This has a beautiful, natural feel to it, that leads us into both a warning and a lesson that big heads don't necessarily mean bigger brains... And I should know, I have two of them asyou xan seefrom the pic 😀
Patricia. Your poetry has so much effect and so deep of a message to ignore. We must pray for guidance, healing and wisdom of proven science to pass these perilous times indeed. Media makes things worse and worse. They figured out their ways of increasing rates through fear and anxiety among people. We should all come together and have a balanced approach without going to extremes on all sides. God bless your hands to further more healings...

If young people do not know about the Holy Spirit that each baby is born with— how can they understand Good vs. Evil ? We see it more each day and we try to be kind, but we do not want to have a corrupt Country.
Prayer is powerful... I believe.. truly, Pat
Love this piece for its simple sweet trust. Me I have learned from working with many doctors never to simply trust them because they like all experts are human beings with flaws and deficits. In the instance of Covid most doctors know nothing and most scientists do not agree so.........................................

Like our feathered friends, we need shelter from the rain and storm, we all suffer ”rainy days”, hardships that storm our lives and make it difficult for us to feel safe unless we have a ” sycamore” that shelters us from these misfortunes. Ironically, the Sycamore is the most hated tree in England, if you want to know why just search it on YouTube. Well penned!

Thank you for your gracious review. I prefer Cedar to build a house or line a Closet. Of course, poetically speaking, the Sycamore is known to be “Strong”. Be safe and well.

Your poem has too much I'm bursting to comment on, so this might be a ten-page review! First, sycamores! A favorite tree -- the ravine that my cabin overlooks is filled with them, tall & swaying in the afternoon breeze, their brilliant bright bark singing in the sunlight. To your main premise, we do need to figure out a perch from which to watch the weird & catastrophic events of our current times. When covid first swept in, people were tittering wildly over every aspect of being locked down, all the new normals now with some venues opening up. Now hardly anybody comments on covid anymore as it continues to rage on & harvest the old & infirm to the tune of 200,000+ in the USA! (India on a similarly tragic course). Maybe it's the wildfires & a rash of named storms in the gulf that distracts. But the culmination of tragedies does cause some to seemingly write off 2020, to write off life, as if we are living thru the drastic end of times. So I take your reference to the Hippocratic oath to be a way of saying, let's stick to science & not make demonic blaming predictions about where the planet & the future is headed. We can only save people & circumstances, one by one, as we pray for a reprieve from the thundering conditions we face. Let us turn to the big doctor in the sky and believe that He's operating from a Hippocratic oath (even tho some may lose faith, thinking this is a sinister plan of retribution). The way your poem is thought-provoking goes on & on & on! That's the way these times strike me, too. I have to stop thinking too much, find a perch, & sit by to watch & wait & foster a sense of hope while appreciating the many delights that remain. Whew! After this extensive mind-traverse (that you provoked) I need a second cup of coffee this morning! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Nice write as always Pat. Sadly I think we have past all niceties, even political correctness has made no difference but is a blanket covering. Imagine if animals carried guns lol. WE live in a sad world which isn’t getting better.

I wonder why they must suffer... and then I remember the words, "Suffer the children to come unto me... for such is the Kingdom of God". Is this poetry or does it have a meaning. We are brought to our knees... to understand the Revelation of it all.
Thank you Andrew for stopping by. gently, Pat

a powerful poem here Patricia, like the Sycamore, has strength, bravery and calm and not one once of hypocrisy can be found in the science of Hippocrates....
Sycamores are really cool trees for all the strengths you mention, and they live a long time... there is much we can learn from trees...
love your poem Patricia...

For me Birdsong is an inspiration and I love to feed the Birds and know that there is an endowment... an Investment in the Arts. The Sycamore tree is sometimes used to make beautiful furniture. If we are strong, we can be used to encourage and help the younger generation use their talents accordingly.
