I can see this in its allegorical sense of promises broken, relationships swept away with the ocean storms...
I have a few shipwrecks of my own, but survived...and now I walk along the shore alone, and ponder...
the waters feel calmer these days on a personal level...but when i see the wreck our country has become,]
i wish for the rough waters to ebb.

No one weathers a storm alone, the tragedy is how divided we are

This starts out as a romantic ripple of love between the two and slowly disintegrates into a great loss, like the footprints that disappear; the ocean waves are swept away, their love more separate; troubled waves, and promises broken (become seaweed) and finale of a shipwreck is love torn forever. Lovely use of metaphors to show us this downfall of a relationship. fine write Pat (as usual!) xo

The youth with their dreams... the lovers in their prime, and then those with their memories of a lighthouse with beacons to bring us home. A time of reflection and knowing full well.. there are so many
changes occurring simultaneously. God bless and keep us Free from harm. Your words are interpreted the
way you feel as things are held in high regard. Be blessed one-hundred fold. Amen... Pat

You're very welcome Pat, always enjoy your poetry!
Best, B.
And love is all that and more as she takes us on a less than merry dance, giving us so much hope and joy only to dash it all as fast upon the rocks of pain and regret. Love the metaphors and the first three lines came in like kisses on a warm summer breeze.

Dear Pat we are all in stormy waters with the virus and there will be many shipwrecks worldwide. Promises. promises. So many made and so few kept. Washed away. Who do we trust? I'd rather put my belief in finding a mermaid one day combing her beautiful tresses with a coral comb waiting to entice a stranger.
Beautiful poetry, open to so many interpretations. You allow us to travel Pat.
Fondly, Chris

I loved the complete poem dear Pat.
"The days spent along sand and sun swept beaches
where Promises were given and footprints left
along the Ocean waves to be swept away where
Mermaids play and pretend to wait for love one day... "
The above lines. So wonderful. A mermaid wish, I made a few. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

I loved the poem dear Pat and I need a year near the sea.
And then the promises were washed away like footprints on the shore! There are many ways to take the meaning here, Pat. Speaking of "masked promises" makes me think of the pandemic and what we were told in March as opposed to what really has happened. Then there is a romantic feeling of the mermaids waiting for their one true love. I really liked this one....very good! Lydi**
