I can see this in its allegorical sense of promises broken, relationships swept away with the ocean storms...
I have a few shipwrecks of my own, but survived...and now I walk along the shore alone, and ponder...
the waters feel calmer these days on a personal level...but when i see the wreck our country has become,]
i wish for the rough waters to ebb.

Gloriously written to soothe the souls, to guide lost ships and find the perfect island sanctuary. Beautiful feelings and imagery come to one's mind when reading gems of poetry like this one. Sail on and pen on.
Another gem Pat. When I read this I think the good times were yesterday and today and tomorrow is all but shipwrecks. I think covid has changed the world. Lovely flow and imagery Pat.
Full of glorious metaphors, full of warmth.. the perfect early morning poem that calms the sadness of yet another day wishing the past could re.invent itself, Pat. This is a delicious thoughts. 'He promised her beautiful moments... She promised him ginger spiked kisses. - along with a garden of Wisteria wishes... 'You might mask yur mouth, dear friend, but your inspiration still calls out to us! Take care, keep safe. xx

Hmm, this has the makings of a story. I really like your imagery and manner of writing. Well explained and expressed. It held my attention from the beginning to the end. tyfs

Promises spiked with ginger kisses. What a great way to begin, but be sure and pack that life jacket. I always enjoy the way you tell a story. It unfolds with ease, I also like that fault is a mixture resting on no one's shoulders solely.

I love reading mermaid tales, fun to read. Take care.
Paradise, sad to say, can be just a brief interval. Some can make it last longer. The couple in this work couldn't hold together But, as Scarlett said, tomorrow is another day.

bloomin i's .. they aint as good as they used to be :)
Your poem, chock full of seaside delights & imagery for all the senses, seems to suggest that a swirling scene of promise might not end up as we expect. As one bitterly jaded, I don't believe in promising anything to anyone. If anyone promises me something, I take it with a grain of salt. Promises are not ours to give, since we have so much less control over our lives than we think we do. Your poem reminds me of the folly of youth, when we threw promises around like hard candies at a parade. At some point in life we learn to just embrace the current moment & accept that we have no say over what's to come (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
