Rebellion of the Seven Seas

Rebellion of the Seven Seas

A Poem by Patricia Wedel

Rose petals gather like birds of a feather

collecting raindrops to sprinkle on Violets

that are on a mission to bring preying mantis to

their knees asking for mercy during the rebellion of

the Seven Seas as waves splash upon the

Shores of divine intervention...

Lords and Ladies dance for Rain that will refrain

the Virus upon the Plains and Mountains

of Purple Mountain Majesty and

Amber Waves of Grain...

If only the rain could wash away the coronavirus...and the preying mantis could watch as the world healed itself! We must all be as careful as possible...wearing masks, washing hands, social distancing....till a vaccine is discovered and readily available to all. Lydi**

I truly love your flowery imagination
absolutely always enjoy your wonderful flights of fancy, even more so if a pumpkin pie ends up on our doorstep and I am able to get to it before the deer, dogs, children, grandchildren, neighbors or wife beat me to it
I guess I could share with my wife
possibly

Hello dear Pat. I agree, have some fun and be safe.
Can't but help thinking of the pandemic here Pat, with even the non believers leaving a message on Gods answer machine. (Where does he find the time to listen to them, much less reply? Must have a brilliant secretary)
Your use of water here is similar to my recent thoughts, but being from Scotland, mine took the form of snow, wiping clean the landscape as we marvel at how pristine everything would look once more if it were to blanket the world today.
Well, snow in July is not unheard of here you know 😀
We certainly are on our knees, hoping to see those fields of gold at the end of the tunnel... Only question left is, just how long is this tunnel going to be.
We are all searching the horizon for that first sighting of light within the darkness.

I love the weaving of the song with nature. This reminds me that nature moves with us, but also without us and beyond us. We have an impact, but we are guests here. Our political ideals butt up against the awesome power of nature which can subdue- but perhaps not totally.

These words by Tom Brown beautifully equate with your ever lovely words, my petal:

A GARDEN is a lovesome thing, God wot! - Rose plot, Fringed pool, Fern'd grot— The veriest school -
Of peace; and yet the fool - Contends that God is not— Not God! in gardens! when the eve is cool? -
Nay, but I have a sign; 'Tis very sure God walks in mine. '

If anyone in today's climate could write similar words, it's you, dear lover of all things growing. And yes, yes, even the rain has it work tween sunny spells.. Everything helps when the world calls for it.. and seems we're all offering what we can.. you with your colour and scents galore. Love you, dearly. xx

Drinking in the beauty of your verses and reflecting upon them and the hope they bring me today. How truly we need prayers more than any other remedy now. Can we learn from nature and its creatures and how it heals itself? Indeed, the answeres we seek lie out there.

Its such a pleasure! You're welcome, Ms. Pat. :)
Pat, a beautiful poem that is optimistic and uplifting. The best of nature can defeat the worst it. And, your love of nature, flowers, people, humanity, plus your faith shine through in this poem. I'm constantly amazed how you achieve such imagery and emotion in few well crafted verses. A pleasant gift this Tuesday afternoon.

Rose petals, birds, feathers, all things of great beauty and then the virus on the plains and on the mountains. I see the virus as the praying mantis, waiting for its next victim. Such a contrast here dear Pat. Raindrops on violets, such a perfect image, so utterly beautiful when we think of the destruction and death bought about by this disease. That's where my mind wandered to when reading your poetic lines.
