Dear Pat, I am so fond of owls. The wisest of birds. There is something so comforting about the owl keeping guard, keeping watch at night while we are in dreamland. I love this cosy picture you paint with words of proud mother caring for her baby owlets. I have a picture of two owls perched on a branch. It's a calender picture. My cat gets up so close, mesmerised by the staring yellow eyes. This is a warm, fluffy write and I love your posted image of you dearest poet blossoming amid garden flowers. Lovely.

How bloomin true you and your words are Pat ... only yesterday on a walk with my son .. he tapped my shoulder and asked what was sitting on a low hanging pine tree bough .. we both squinted and walked slowly toward the mystery and .. only when we got up real close.. it emerged that what we both thought might have been a once in a lifetime glimpse of a family of little owls ... was in fact a cluster of large pine cones ... Nature never fails to leave me in awe of it .... Neville :)
First, let's discuss this strapless hussy in the photo . . . is that you? I am so jealous becuz you look younger than me & I'm pretty sure you beat me by a few. You look so sassy . . . if this is you . . . & it would fit with the strong sassy colorful personality I get from your poems & reviews. Now to this poem, which I love very much both for the owl theme & the fierce-momma flavor. This is butt-kicking writing: "Fluffy feathers and yellow eyes... they look like falling stars in the moonlight hours" Thank you for gifting us (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I read it yesterday, and had the best "laughter" since Jim Carey did the Movie "Mask". I was scurrying around to go to the Eye doctor after waiting for a few weeks for an Appt (because of the Virus). Your review helped me make it through the worrisome prognosis because of a rash on my eyelids. It turned out she gave me a prescription for a creme that is half an antibiotic and half a steroid. That should be healing. She will followup in a week or so. When it comes to your eyes, it can be scary. Anyway you certainly were there with me like a "Buddy" and I thank you for your riotous review that got me through the day. Yes, the photo with my poem is me at Motts Run about seven years ago where there is a Reservoir where people fish and there are paths through the Woods along the water. They have Picnic tables and barbecue Pitts for bringing your own 'Coals" for cooking.... a great place for "kids" like me. We have taken our grandkids there. My Mother and her Mother were great survivors of "Aging". It is in my Genes.
So thank you again. with love, gently, Pat

You are so right one can be perched 20 feet away from you and you won't see them! I cater for a wildlife rescue center frequently and they have many owls that they use as ambassador animals that they take to schools and events and I love the mystique they always have you can always see the wheels turning in there heads as they gaze back at you:)

This is a lovely nature offering. I love all birds. I walked into a nest once of a mourning dove in a cedar tree. She sat there on her nest and did not blink and I was inches away. I slowly backed up and away and left her and her chick alone. They were perfectly hidden. Great write, I enjoyed.

We have burrowing owls in our neighborhood and they are so adorable! Yes, the mother does stand guard and the little ones blend in with the foliage around them. If they sense danger, they go into their burrowing nest. You are such a lover of nature, Pat. I always enjoy your poetry. Lydi**

I subscribe to “Birds and Blooms” magazine where I become enamored with so many Birds . I am having trouble retrieving photos to embed with my poetry. I look forward to when it will fall in place once again when I search for a photo, Google Images is becoming very Private with their Images. All this keep me humble. Sometimes I am able to post a private personal photo of my own. Hope you and yours are safe and well.
truly, Pat
Pat, so much depth within the natural beauty of this poem. I think of the wise owl, solitary, humble, his/her voice recognizable among all the others, and how it quiets the smaller, chatty birds, and how his/her presence seems to calm everything around it.
