Hollyhocks Rock

Hollyhocks Rock

A Poem by Patricia Wedel

Hollyhocks bloom like pretty ladies

with too much Rouge...

All dressed up with bright pink Pearls.

looking for high school sweethearts...

Flowers that dance the Jitterbug

when the Band plays "Ain't no Mountain

High enough... just call my name" ...

Every muscle moves in every groove

when Vinyl records were stacked high

we could really dance the Jitterbug...

Care to give it a try ???

Greetings from across the pond Pat. I need to put on my dancing shoes and get in the groove. Yes your words rock. You also gave me a wonderful memory. Nothing much grew in my Nan's backyard. Her house in the shadow of the arches and electric trains, however there was one hollyhock that came back every year and grew so tall. It was taller than me and a deep cerise colour. A little bit of brightness in a yard of darkness. Thank you this morning for memories of flowers and music. So uplifting a read. Thank you my friend.

No more jitterbugging with my knees, but I remember it well....and that song too. Ain't no mountain high enough, ain't no valley low enough to keep me from gettin' to you babe! A nice dance down memory lane here, Pat. Lydi**
