You have me dancing barefoot in the flowered meadows here Pat and delightful it is too. Especially knowing that there is a sumptuous picnic at hand. I love home made potato salad, and in the hot weather we have been having, it has graced our table often. It is also the season for strawberries and I have had more than a few helpings of those topped with cream. Your picnic is making my mouth water Pat. I am wanting to gate crash your memories. What wonderful memories you have of when you were young.

Summer is a time for a Frolic and may work up an appetite. How wonderful to make potato salad. My aunt would even include a little cucumbers and fresh tomato. A pot of beans with onions, and buttermilk and cornbread... helps to survive until the Restaurants are safe once again. Thank you for crashing my memories. tenderly, Pat
A wonderful poem shared dear Pat. I love the warm days of Spring. Good days for a picnic. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Summer is a picnic & you've captured so many of the nuances that make it so. Being housebound for 6 years, eggs are one of those things that can't be gotten via online ordering, so your first line made me drool into my morning coffee! This poem rescued me from a recent bout of political wrangling, which I hardly ever do & now I wish I hadn't. I came to WC to refresh my spirit, get my mind off grinding, & this poem is exactly the sustenance I was seeking. Thanks for slaking my thirst! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I love this! I write poems about food too. I remember how sweet the tomatoes were on the farm I grew up on in England. Now you have to find an heirloom tomato, and get lucky with it, in order to enjoy a tomato that tastes like anything at all.

When I was growing up in the 50's you could go to roadside markets and buy and/or pick delicious home grown tomatoes like "Big Boy" and so forth. Now it is difficult to find roadside gardens in the country. When you buy tomatoes in the grocery Store... for me... Wegmans has organic heirloom tomatoes, however I get gout from the Red tomatoes, however, the Yellow heirloom tomatoes do not cause "Uric Acid in your foot, or toes or heel... but I cheat and have Red one once in a while. When I was growing up I would eat a dozen red tomatoes all summer, and buttered Corn on the Cob was all I wanted. At least I have my memories. Now all that butter would be too many calories. Thanks for your lovely review. truly, Pat
Wow... do I ever want to get invited to that picnic. Not since I was young have I been to such a thing. Magnificent, they were.

They rent about 7 or so Canoes with paddles. I prefer the fishing boats with electric motors. Because it is a Reservoir, no gasoline motors are allowed. It is peaceful. Of course now that there is social distancing, we have not even called to see if they are open. But for years the open in April or May and close in September. When I was a child, we hd Picnics at the Tital Basin in Washington, D.C. as I grew up in Maryland. It is good therapy during this time of turmoil on so many levels, it is refreshing to
write and read poetry that may lift our Spirits enough to find a balance, although even that is becoming more difficult. Thanks for stopping by to share your memories. Tenderly, Pat
Oh, I remember those summer picnics. Family was always around and good friends too. Your imagery brought me right back there, Pat. Yes, memories are mosaics.....multi-colored and all different shapes. Good one. Lydi***

from sunrise to sunset. Lovely to share the beginning of a new way of thinking and tossing a Coin. May your Summer find you in the warm folds of a Rose where every thing seems to be fresh and sweet.
