Dear Pat we have our bunting that will be out out today to mark the 75th anniversary of VE day. My thoughts will be with those who lost their lives preserving our freedom, our wonderful servicemen and women. I will also be thinking of my grandparents and my parents and what a joyous day that must have been for them after years of destruction, hardship and death.
I am picturing your garden here, hearing those wood thrushes and seeing those double peony blooms. I also have a peony that has been in our flower bed for years. Beautiful heads they have.
Thank you for this memorial poem. We have a Bank Holiday today. Unusual for us to have one on a Friday.
I will make a point of looking at the super moon.
Sending you the warmest of wishes Pat.
Chris

I must admit I adore Peonies, but have only enjoyed the scent and beauty in other Gardens. I will soon this year or next year grow my own. Thank you for sharing your Memorial Day with a different name. Of course we have Mothers Day this Sunday coming. I will celebrate my Mother who has passed, and I miss her more and more. She loved children and flowers. I just read "Victory in Europe" Day... marking the day towards the end of
War World II. I was born in 1940, so my relatives experienced a lot. By the way, I have seen Wood Thrush at our feeders. Thanks for sharing and reading my humble poem. Our weather is unpredictable, however, it was Sunny today.
Love across the Pond. truly, Pat

Yes celebrate her loving memory Pat. My own dear mum is in a nursing home two hundred miles away. Each day I am fearful for her with this wretched virus claiming many of our older folk in residential and nursing homes. I talk to her on the phone and I am happy that she is in her own world and doesn't know too much about what is going on elsewhere. One of her carers arranged a video call last week which was wonderful, although it confused my mum a bit. However it was lovely to see her face and she was smiling at me. Lovely sunny morning here. Take care Pat.
A patriotic write for the upcoming Memorial day....I understand it is VE day in the UK today so this is so appropriate. How lovely the wood thrush must sound! Your words always make me appreciate nature a little more, Pat. Lydi****

I have seen them a few times in the past years. What a beautiful way to honor the Healthcare workers. We feel so blessed so far... and are humbled by others who are at risk every day. Being Patriotic is always at the heart of our Nation, and many Countries feel the same way... as we try to show others a better way to prepare a World that is
healthy and free to enjoy life, liberty and happiness.
truly, Pat
What a wonderful and fitting tribute to our young men and women who serve in our armed services. I like the line about peonies. My mother grew them, beautiful, but sort of a sickly perfume to them. Mom said the ants eat the sweet waxy covering from the buds allowing them to bloom. Without the ants, the buds die without blooming. Ain't nature grand?

My daughter friend had only Peonies at her Wedding in a Church... so I never knew about the Ants. The Bride carried Peonies and all the Brides maids as well as huge bouquets. Now I may not plant Peonies ‘cause of the Ants. They do get in the house. Thanks for joining in on the Patriotic Celebration. Fondly, Pat
The worthy celebration we must not miss - thank you Pat for this needed reminder of those who took part in the creation of V.E. day.
