Pat, this is downright magical....the loveliness of waking up to the smell of baking in the kitchen, the starry night, the song of a meadowlark.....such intricate imagery and I loved imagining it all. I hope May is a better month for all of us! Great poem. Lydi**

I will always remember going to College in Napa Valley at age 19 where steamed Artichokes were in abundance for lunch and dinner seven days a week... dipping the succulence and praising the earth for its bounty. Then at age thirty being in Nova Scotia walking in the Bay of Fundy where fossils covered the Beach ... discovering Rhubarb in uncle Bob’s garden and rolling out pie dough for pie with apples and rhubarb with brown sugar and cinnamon. To be a grandmother and young at heart ❤️ is a blessing. Thank you for your delicious review. gently, Pat

what warm memories Pat! how fortunate we are for them eh!? blessings my friend!
What a heavenly way to greet the morning. I can imagine a child in bed waking to the baking in the kitchen. Home made from home produced. Rhubarb, apples and artichokes. Yummy says I. The smell of baking, takes me way back in time. People just don't bake as much now so you don't catch those delicious smells wafting your way, especially first thing in the morning. I love these words Pat. You paint such wonderful imagery in your lines and tantalise the senses. My best wishes winging their way across the pond dear poet.

Perhaps we will return to baking pies and growing Rhubarb... I planted Rhubarb in Virginia when my children were under ten years old... now they have children... and so it goes. 💕 Lovely to share the aroma of baking apple pie and having a cupola tea with you as the sun smiles and the Moon dreams. gently, Pat

A cuppa tea with you dear Pat would be divine. I am raising my cup to you now :))
hi Patricia, I see you have been playing in dirt again, making your garden grow with goodies and treating us with the harvest of your efforts.... wonderful poetry here and I enjoyed reading it, thanks for sharing a piece of that apple/rhubarb pie...
I planted tomatos and peppers, broccoli and cucumbers but we had two days of frost and everything has died.... so it's back to getting new plants and starting again... the kale and the new rose bush did well though so I am happy about this... anyway as it is not quite May, I have time to recover...
so, as you can tell I love playing in dirt as well...
