Audition at Stage Door

Audition at Stage Door

A Poem by Patricia Wedel

As an Artist of world acclaim...

I spread my golden lined wings to

welcome your embrace of charmed smiles...

Dressed in finest fashion with Vogue design

I turn a pretty leg long and seductive as

I read the script to the Movie "Born of Desire".

The Director is impressed as he keeps abreast

of the latest profiles for coming attractions.

A Shoe-in for the Lead, I grasp the intention of

the narritive and give it my best Shot with ardor...
"I beg your Pardon, I didn't promise to be as gifted as

Katherine Hepburn... "  She was the greatest" !!

The best part of this poem is your playfulness & imagination. This might be the furthest ANYONE has taken personification of something from nature . . . you set the scene so strikingly, along with a mighty sassy feathery who really seems to think she CAN compete with ole Kate! *wink! wink!* This modesty is not to be believed, in my estimation. Ms. PEPburn (the bird) knows she can kick the pants off anything that comes out of Hollywood! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Dear Pat:
Definitely using your imagination and images to tell you story, as you a are betting on a part as an actress with flair! Being seductive is all part of the gig and you showed it well. I particularly like the line " I spread my golden-lined wings"...you must have had an amazing costume to describe as you did. Lovely poem!

not a problem
dear Pat;
What a splendid bird, with a flourish of wonderful colour. Orange can not fail to be noticed. Of course neither could you fail to notice Katherine Hepburn, another "bird" of the human species. And she was splendid too. I love how you have approached this poem Pat. Such an imaginative and creative write. Very much enjoyed. What a bird, and what an actress. She certainly was one of the greats. A fine tribute to her, as well as a nod to the natural world.

Katharine Hepburn has always reminded me of my mother they both have the same mannerisms and polite nature they even have similar voices:) I love how you transposed her personality into the bird and even as I looked at the picture again I can see Hepburns smile:)

Your writing, whatever the theme, is absolutely enchanting, Pat! Am I correct or not that Katherine Hepburn played in a movie called ' The African Queen'? At uni I belonged to a Film Club. For two years I saw some of the best movies I've ever seen. I think the previous was in colour but also saw many black and white films and famous European ones too. Think of so many of them having fantastic scripts and subtleties plus stars who really shone.. such as Margaret Hepburn.

Yet again your love of feathery creatures take centre stage.. or should that be film set?!.
