Borrowed Time

Borrowed Time

A Poem by Patricia Wedel

My heart is beating like drums

on the edge of borrowed time...

Where butterflies sip on Allium globes

as Tanagers fly close by...

Clematis climbs on the trellis

of my heart where love abides...

The Sun sets breathlessly...

Summer Tanagers nest within

my garden grove where love remains...

Soon your garden will be transformed. The coldness of winter will slide into spring and summer. Your garden will become a delight of colour and fragrances and will welcome the return of feathered friends and creatures who do not appreciate winter's reign. We are on the cusp of spring and I am excited for what lies ahead. My heart beats out its drum for what is to come. A lovely visual write Pat for lovers of nature. So poetically conveyed.

Sad when we have to live on 'Borrowed time'. When we get to that X road: coming to terms with this is a hard pill to swallow so if we try to live life a day at a time and enjoy it to the max. Thanks for sharing.

This time at my place we have to hibernate for so long, winter is like fitted into the air!
May your garden gets hale and hearty for the sake of all the tired heat which want to rejoice in spring.
Love and hugs💟

I find myself pondering your title phrase. Why borrowed time? -- I ask myself. Then I looked it up & see how it perfectly describes this feeling of suspension as winter holds on while spring promises. You show that feeling of being suspended with strong imagery . . . we are very much in the middle of this suspension here in California, since we're having 70* afternoons & spring is so ready to burst already, but we wait & the relative coolness puts developments into slow motion (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

There is something so inspiring about a garden, especially filled with flowers. It is an attraction for many things in nature, birds, insects, sun, rain, just to mention a few. A garden needs tender love and care and so is a reflection of your love. Simply beautiful, Pat!

I agree. Expressing ourselves with words is a wonderful way to share our innermost thoughts.

Yes, it does. I find I feel better after I write my feelings down.
we all live on borrowed time...humans and nature alike...but when spring comes...and its rebirth...
we want to be young again, and fly free as the birds...
