i like the old time feel of this poem...reads like one of the classics...has that tone, the perfect rhyme scheme including in-line rhyming..
and the old English...."e'er i shan't fail the pilot's test if i ever found a co-pilot who would write something like this to me.

Not having been in a close relationship for a couple decades, I rarely miss it, since so often the chaos outweighed any bliss I ever got from connecting with others intimately. But your poem made me miss one thing that happens when two people get that close . . . the way one stands up for the other in all things . . . having an advocate, someone to help fight the onslaught of life, but also, someone to help us see when we need to bare our eagle claws. Love how you convey a sense of love doing battle, fighting off all the obstacles of life (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This reads like a sonnet from the Bard himself Pat. Your descriptions of love are wonderful but love lands like eagle's claws upon the heart, I felt and smiled at. You carried me along with the drumbeat and I thoroughly enjoyed the journey dear Pat.
Old time language.....classic! I liked the rhyming in this one, Pat. We all need a good co-pilot in life, don't we? Those who have found one are truly blessed. Another lovely poem, my friend. Lydi**

This is one of the most beautiful pieces of writing i've read in all my years in the cafe, Pat. Not only because it's written with such care for language, but emotions jump from the monitor and i feel.. so much.

Love is a many miraculous thing, but it has its pains well.
That is why this is my favorite part
Love shines throughout the stars with mighty ray,
Love lands, with eagle's claws, upon the heart,
Love, like a blaster shot, doth fire convey,
Love is a sculpted, finely crafted art.

What we have here is Star Wars and iambic pentameter. The Bard might have written this one as a review. Very romantic, very nicely rhymed.
