This poem touches a spot I was thinking about scratching but you beat me to it! I just love the title. I love all the awesomeness you pack into your imagery, reminiscent of cultures on the other side of the world. Your last line speaks to me of the holidays, too. I'm catching a connection between writing about this region & how it plays a part in how most of us envision the Christmas story (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This poem took me to those mystical and intriguing times. A journey of wonderment into the past of a once dazzling civilisation. The poem has a word choice that stirred my senses too. Appreciated very much.

i like the parallel of the Egyptian love to the beautiful, romantic sky....
i think the Egyptians really knew how to love timelessly...eternally...
love wrapped up like a mummy in a sarcophagus....

Your expression of how to love timelessly...eternally is beautiful and my quest for the hereafter. Egyptians were surely romantic. as ever, Pat
Very romantic and sensual, I could almost feel the dry desert heat drifting through the tents before the rain began. I'm fond of sandalwood myself. :) I enjoyed the read.

dear Margie... when I read about the Pyramids of Egypt,
I discovered that scents of lavender and thyme were
scattered in their tomb, including frankincense and myrrh.
You can discover this also, and many other facts that
may surprise you. The Pyramids were built by the River Nile
to make it easier to transport the blocks of stone by boat on the Nile.
Egyptians believed in an afterlife and built the Pyramids
accordingly. Thanks Margie for your charming review, as always.

I felt transported to the glorious days of Egypt in all its splendor like your poem. The sand can be hot so the passions deep. A trip on the Nile by two lovers is so romantic among the palm trees and swans. Wonderful...
