Losing Your Shell

Losing Your Shell

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

secure and warm... from misty rain...

"
In the month of June when we see a new moon...

a turquoise egg will begin to crack

with soft silky feathers laid back...

The world is at their beck and call

after all we need beautiful Robins with

tiny beeks to steal our hearts...

We start singing the song in Spring...

When the Red Red Robin comes

Bob Bob, Bobbin along...

Little boys with their Race Cars and

Little girls with their Dolls are

discovering aqua marine egg shells

under their race cars and doll carriages...

The day is virtually alive with the new birth

of fledglings who will break each day with a song...

Even if not around any bird watchers, I'd wager that EVERYONE (among our generation) grew up with a fondness for robins, with the iconic red-breasted males & robin's eggs used endlessly to identify the ultimate shade of light blue with a hint of turquoise. You've packed this poem with memories, including the "bob, bob, bobbin along" song that must've been a sixth-grade camp classic. The way you load up on poignant imagery, your nest is full & overflowing! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Your poetry has the newness of life and nature. Your observation and imagination combine to spread lively connections and cheers everywhere. I guess your message is about losing something to gain something else, a maturation of the process of life. Marvelous...

All true. You are welcome....
You are an observer of nature and the circle of life. The scenes you describe are innocent and sweet and the ones we should all pay more attention to in our crazy world. Just wonderful, Pat. Lydi**
