Even if not around any bird watchers, I'd wager that EVERYONE (among our generation) grew up with a fondness for robins, with the iconic red-breasted males & robin's eggs used endlessly to identify the ultimate shade of light blue with a hint of turquoise. You've packed this poem with memories, including the "bob, bob, bobbin along" song that must've been a sixth-grade camp classic. The way you load up on poignant imagery, your nest is full & overflowing! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I would cry when I had a "crush" on a cute guy who was not on the same page... but music always soothed the trauma of lost love that never was.

I has a robin make a nest out of my bedroom window when I was a little boy I would sneak peaks at the fledglings but the mother would always swoop at the window if she saw me so I had to be very careful not to startle I used to think they looked like space aliens with blue unopened eyes the way they would jerk there big heads around animated the mind flow this poem reminded me of this Patricia:)

This little poem is bursting with life. When those eggs hatch and we have little birdies to continue to keep us all happy. I love my garden friends and we had a cheeky Robin in the past who at times hopped into our kitchen to sit on the mat. Happy as could be. No Robins now we have a cat, they stay away, but the magpies come on the deck and pinch her biscuits, and then there are my blackbirds who sing me awake each morning. Love this little poem of pure joy. Add children into the recipe and you have perfection Pat. Beautiful poetry.

Thanks for your charming review. I just read on my I-phone that the recent hurricane Dorian that devastated Bermuda and parts of the Caribbean... also lost so many Parrots and Nuthatches ... the number is huge... some almost to total extinction. This hurts me deeply and many mourn their loss... not to mention the loss of homes and trees that were part of th tourist attraction... and so forth. When we loose our feathered friends...
we are left behind. truly, Pat

One area in the Caribbean I believe that was hit... the birds would have normally have gone to the lowlands... however the humans had destroyed the forrest and planted the land with SugaR Cane. I read that many birds were in the "Eye" of the Hurricane in order to survive. It is not clear how many did survive. I love all feathered friends to the point..
I will forever mourn their loss... they are the dearest

We had a trellis outside our kitchen door that housed a small porch. One spring, a robin nested in one of the openings, and if you stood tippy-toed, you were able to look inside the nest. I'll never forget the color of blue the eggs were, and the sight of the fledglings with their little beaks. Every spring afterwards, there were always more robins in our yard, and what a joy it was to see them. Such a beautiful piece, Pat...and so typically "you" to write so eloquently of nature!
