A Robot named Charlie

A Robot named Charlie

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

Mechanical feet and arms that lift on a prayer...

"
We sleep in a tree house high up on the second floor

Crepe Myrtle blooms just outside the window...

A Cathedral ceiling holds our prayers...

We have a Chairlift named Charlie that

carries us up from the first floor where we

hustle and bustle our day away.

However when the dusk of evening

shadows play, we rely on Charlie to

lift us up to rest and nurse our blues away...

when age has taken hold and our muscles

give away to arthritis in our knee.

Believe me... our friend Charlie Chairlift

saves the day.

These are the most complimentary words I've heard about a robot since the days of Robby. (Remember that one from long ago?) Now you've me made want a tree house! This poem makes me smile.

I'll wager those Myrtles are majestic these days with all of this heat, rain and humidity of late:) the unfortunate side effect of all this humidity is aching joints:( my family's cabin (more like a chalet) was like that... vaulted cathedral ceilings and a loft style bedroom I can still hear the creek of my fathers bones as he would amble his was up the spiral stairs. Thank goodness for the charlies Patricia

A great tribute to a robot that acts as a helping hand to the elderly. I enjoyed this, especially the last lines at the end.

Thank you Hasan for your kind review. Pat
WOW! This is so original! I think it might be the only poem written to worship this lifesaver for many! You are so clever. This is written with such quiet affection, the reader comes away almost adoring Charlie! I love how you paint a mood for each of the two stories of the dwelling, which kinda felt like a metaphor for my life being bipolar (ups & downs) and also having fibromyalgia (good & bad days). I love thinking about it as being on different floors of my being! *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie

A Cathedral ceiling holds our prayers. Chairlift named Charlie that carries us up from the first floor to others is very pleasing and we have sweet view about. This story poem about a robot makes readers very emotional. You have very brilliantly expressed your perception. This is great that Charlie, the friend of yours and ours saves the day. An excellent poem is very beautifully penned. ..100/100

What a lovely gentle and feel good poem Patricia. You have spun some magic on what is a painful and debilitating condition. With your friend Charlie to transport you to yourttee house you can face anything.
