Gladiolus summer grace

Elegance personified...

Pour me a Manhatten in summers glow 

I want to stand tall and be strong...   

when winds of change in disarray 

seem impossible to compromise... 

The world has power to create a 

climate for genius and versatility... 

Observe the Birds in flight knowing 

the direction of best detente and peace...

Lydia... thank you for your wise review. Some of our elected Officials do not realize that their responsibility is to the people who put them where they are. Many fail on several levels, and we the people pay the price. When you play Monopoly... sometimes you go to Jail. We should not let them simply throw the Dice. I think we the people do a fair job of living side by side with our differences. It is the two Parties that cannot compromise for the Good of the People. truly, Pat

drink in the beauty of compromise and wanting to fulfill the promise to encourage decisions to make our country a Beacon of Hope, faith and charity... that can be seen as an example of how each country could care for their people by using their own resources. This is why we and other countries have given so much of ourselves to help save mankind. truly, Pat

this poem is elegant...and the Manhatten reminds me of my mom...that was her favorite drink for many years...Dad was a martini guy...and she her Manhattens...
the birds really are genius when we think about it...and here we humans try to take credit for being the smartest animals of the bunch...not so sure.

dear Jacob... thank you for your extraordinary review. I saw a magazine filled with Gladioli's with special names. The vibrant Red/Orange Gladioli caught my eye (It was named Manhattan). We must stand Tall against the winds of changing times. Interesting your Dad was a Martini Guy, and your Mom her Manhattens. It adds that special ambience to my poem. I must say that the genius of an Inventor was inspired by the flight of a Bird. The top of the wing of the bird is rounded and the bottom is flat. This characteristic was copied in the aircraft wing. When the wing goes through the air, the air going over the top of the wing goes faster than the air going beneath the wings. This creates a vacuum above the wing, which causes the wing to rise. It is apparent that a human is indeed a brilliant observer and designer. We are inspired by nature and learn many lessons.
My husband assisted me with the above, as he was a Pilot. truly, Pat
