Sleeping Roses

Sleeping Roses

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

Lips kissing a Rose ... the fragrance of Wisteria

"
When Spring arrives in early May we will

dance around tulips and breathe in wisteria...

Foxtrotting around sleeping roses

by the goldfish pond and beyond...

through the Gate overlooking the City with Steeples and

a River running along with rapids and ghosts hovering over...

We will waltz into the romance of roses unfolding with

love and laughter and the music of flowers....

i find ghosts quite intriguing...and have had a couple encounters. I like this poem for that, but also for the peacefulness and romance of it...ghosts are often depicted as evil, scary, but that is not always the case...
they are like blooming roses...in spring their visages shoot up...and haunt us beautifully.

always nice when the roses appear from their winter nap.... I like the romantic flair in this poem Pat... there is a creek that runs past the house and I often sit on the back porch watching the birds at the feeder and sometimes the ducks swimming in the creek.... there is one rose bush near the front of the house that I prune and make sure the weeds stay away... yellow roses bloom and one of the first signs that summer is right around the corner... lovely poem Pat, glad you shared it with us...

I can picture you and Roger walking along the banks of the Rappahannock River remembering those who have past...the ghosts of your life that flit back and forth in memory. May you always see roses and smell wisteria in your travels, Pat. Such a lilting lovely write. Lydi**

dear poets... In Fredericksburg, Virginia... along the Rappahannock River,
we climb the road toChatham Heights where ghosts reside in the house that
served as a hospital during the Civil War. Visitors including the poet Walt Whitman
looked for his brother there. As ever, Pat
