Butterly Wings

When my time comes to leave this world 

my spirit will fly on Butterfly wings...   

I will rise with the Sun 

and sing on the breeze of 

blossoming trees... 

I will ride rainbows through 

Jupiter and Mars and gather 

lavender stars with diamonds 

all aglow in the atmosphere... 

I will stop for Tea at the 

Milky Way Cafe where retired writers 

of romantic persuasion pen poems of

everlasting bliss and ecstasy in flights 

that defy explanation but paint moments 

where memories of past blend with the 

present in orchestrated  sonnets...

A beautiful hope and wish for the hereafter....certainly a wondrous voyage that would be!

If we all truly could choose our own hereafter voyage, unlimited by any constraints and just at the will of our own imaginations, then i am sure most of us would choose such a voyage as you have so poetically described.

Some lovely snippets of internal rhyme in this one , Pat, giving the entire piece a dreamlike, drifting quality fitting for its theme.

This fanciful exit of yours makes me smile, hoping maybe I'll get a set of those butterfly wings. Heck, I'd settle bat wings--anything that'll facilitate my flitting around the planets, lavender stars, and such. Hopefully, they'll welcome a story-teller and serve coffee at that cafe.
