Summer's Wind

Summer's Wind

A Poem by Patricia Wedel

Lost in the mist of loving you
Lost in the kiss of holding you...

The warmth of the sun through summer's wind
the sound of your voice like a violin...

The howl of a wolf entertains as dreams
become a canopy of secret pleasures...

Playful moments lie in meadows sweet
your eyes and mine in a peaceful sleep...

Flowers sway to lilting laughter and
happy ever after...

Your poem contains so many sensory delights that define summer for me, starting with the ever-present wind (being near the coast). I love the way you pick words with similar sounds like (mist . . . kiss) and (sweet . . . sleep). I love the way you include something for all the senses. Loving, playing, sleeping, and laughing . . . your poem is filled with the sensations of summer love (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

There is a story within this poem. The images the poem creates and then the mood that overlays that the readers mind creates. Excellent. I see a woman sitting on her garden swing staring at a picture porclaming this piece from memory

I enjoyed the read my friend. I must say the wolf seemed oddly out of place to me somehow however. The sound seems mournful and eerie to me; far from comforting and really quite terrifying if one is camped out at night in the mountains, as well as the cries of mountain lions. All else seems sweet and comforting here but the wolf relays the threat of danger in the midst to me.

Love the delicate tenor of the rhyme scheme, allowing the reader to suspend herself to a dreamlike levitation. The power of true love, its ability to allow a person towards self-discovery, its ability to heal, its ability to shield from all jagged ends of reality- all these have been showcased intricately in your work.

Grand to have read your work.

Best,
M

This is a finely composed piece of poetry, Patricia. You conjure up beautiful summer images and sounds. To enjoy all this with a loved one makes it all complete.

A beautiful poem.
