Autumn sunflowers and sandpipersA Poem by Patricia WedelHummingbirds are drawn to sips of nectar in the center of a sunflower...As sandpipers on wing leave shadows of smiles spread among the dunes of warm sand... Pumpkins are cut to bring the light of smiles as children return to school with summer memories Sunflowers bloom in tall eloquence against an autumn sky of geese flying in formation to warmer climes where hurricanes have spent their time with floods and high winds causing pain and strife Neighbors helping neighbors with gifts of love pumpkin pies and slow cooked meals on wheels Apple pies and warm fires with hot cocoa and friends gathering for a season of grace and thanksgiving... Yellow roses gathered and placed with autumn leaves in colors of nutmeg and persimmon fruit on a table with candles lit to begin the season of forgiveness and reconciliation among our friends around the world...
