Daddy's little warblersA Poem by Patricia WedelNesting is a pleasure when eggs appear...When daddy chose his mate, he ruffled his feathers... he brought her berries... she thought he was all that She was a chestnut-sided warbler wearing a yellow cap with rufous sides... a real show stopper Grandma Chickadee flew from the east to visit the first-born when she chirped... as a newly-born fledgling The entire family went fishing on a lake on top of the mountain... there were worms galore and baby ducks Hummingbirds sipped orange blossoms and at night slept in a deep sleep-like state... known as torpor, when their body slows Hummers are tough and so are Mommy and Daddy warblers busy when... Spring fever dances in their hearts © 2017 Patricia WedelFeatured Review
