Yule log's dancing light

Yule log's dancing light

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

You may be entertaining angels by firelight

"
The firelight creates a halo above your golden hair
sitting by the yule log burning in colors of memories
of coming inside after cutting a tree for the wee ones...

The aroma of gingerbread cookies from the oven and
warm apple cider embracing the season of goodwill
entertaining angels unaware who protect our souls...

Dreaming of warm colorful hand-stitched quilts
that we could snuggle under til morning light
when Christmas Cardinals sing in the early dawn...

Merry Christmas to all and to all Good Night

How lucky - gloriously lucky - those of us who remember Christmas as being the happiest and warmest of times. You've painted a picture wrapped in all the senses, Patricia, one I can share even with differences.

If only we could feel these deep set feelings year-long and even more importantly, use words like yours as a means of sharing.. ..

Hi Patricia. I'm surfing around a bit and landed here. Not quite seasonal, but there's always time to think nice thoughts about Christmas! This is beautifully written, and just enfolds me - a bit like the quilt. 'the yule log burning in colours of memories' ... 'entertaining angels' ... lovely.

For some reason this takes me to Van Morrison's Coney Island. If you don't know it, it's worth a listen - very evocative drive around a small area of Northern Ireland - very atmospheric.

Ah, a Christmas of old.The simple things. Not now, xmas starts in September and leaves as Easter arrives, bank balances stripped, bellies stuffed, children spoilt.

This one touches on all the senses. I could almost smell the gingerbread and feel the warm soft quilt around me while listening to bird songs. The imagery is just stunning, Pat. Merry Christmas to you too, sweet friend. Lydi**
