Bells-of-Ireland

Bells-of-Ireland

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

Along side Foxglove and snapdragon

"
As we wander this land of ours...
we see footsteps of our ancestors from afar...
as if following a star...
from Hungary and Ireland and
many countries with
cultures of their own...

They gladly learn our ways
and language too
with tulips from The Netherlands
we love and plant in Autumn...
Church bells and synagogues
along with others are welcome...

A multicultural Ireland.....a nice vision indeed.

As much as we all want to integrate into each other's countries and culture's, the sad fact is that some immigrants fail to adapt to and adopt the culture of the country they choose to live in. It is sad, but a true fact. And that is where dissension arises from.

Your write is hopeful and well expressed. I just hope your message is adopted in all its entirety in this pivotal day and age.

I love this poem, it has a great perspective, but also imagery and feeling, that really lets the reader sound down what's happening into their heart. Thank you for sharing this!

If we delve back far enough we'll find we're all from the same stock, so embrace our fellow brothers & sisters and treat folk how we would wish to be treated ourselves !

A fine cultured piece of writing Patricia!

Hello, Pat! :)
This is lovely and sentimental. We're a mix. I suppose a we could be called a nice bouquet of cultures. My mother is making pfeffernusse. The holidays smell like anise. Ya, I've got food on my mind. Haha

Sami's review is a hard act to follow but I want to add my voice to his. This is a wonderful testament to America's blending of immigrants' experiences into a shared experiences, combining the best of each culture. We need this in such a divisive time, especially with Thanksgiving near. Thanks for such a wonderful poem.

Yes indeed.
We all came from different countries and backgrounds. We all shared our humanity , yearnings and flowery dreams for the future. I hate that countries are filled with fear and anxiety which is used by politicians to score points or advance agendas. Majority of the immigrants have lost so many and they are becoming a political ping pong so to speak. The blame game never ends. The suffering is continuous. An excellent write with a message...:::))))

Yes, we are a melting pot. Our parents and grandparents were so happy to come to the USA. I hope we are always welcoming to legal immigrants...not illegal ones. The imagery in your poetry is always lovely. I enjoyed this poem. Lydi**
