Social Butterflies

Social Butterflies

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

Feeder talk and romance... singing songs of unbridled love...

"
Tufted Titmice join the flights of chickadees and nuthatches
in the winter months of snow and berries where romance presides...
It grabs one kiss and seed and flies away to another branch and
then returns for another delicious kiss and seed...
and so it goes where they belt out their recognizable
peter-peter-peter song...

I've never been a bird-watcher, but your writing puts me right in the middle of it, with all the sensory stimulation! Just yesterday I noticed the birds following me as I hand-water . . . must cause bugs to surface, which the birds scarf up. There's so much to see in the tiny lives of birds that I hadn't noticed before in my life. I love the way you can bring this all alive in words (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Even in the depths of winter does nature and its animals find a way to endure; sustaining each other with their routines and songs as they await the arrival of Spring.

Lovely, descriptive words on a much overlooked ritual of beauty. Nicely written.

Me too and my grandchildren are dreaming of the beach and the parks.
I have always wanted to buy a parrot or a pair of lovebirds, but with my cats, I wouldn't dare. I so loved the way you presented this, as though you understood the very nature of their being.

You are a breath of spring, Pat...no matter the season!

Delightful how nature's precious little creatures seem to draw strength and sustenance from each others company and their shared plight of finding and gathering much needed food during the cold and barren winter months!

A seasonal serenade for the oncoming cold season, flowing and brimming with nature's treasure !

Winter can be a harsh, unforgiving time for many of nature's creatures, but still birds will sing their hearts out. My favourite, I confess, is the Robin, they are territorial little things, but the sound they make is so melodious.

A lovely poem Patricia.
