Summer Sundials

Summer Sundials

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

Lovers embrace in the afternoon with sips of woodsy wines entangled in passion

"
Romance dances on the sea as
the breeze brings the scent of peonies
to the veranda where I tiptoe to your lips
of tender sweet desire...
the taste of strawberries and love...

Seagulls sing a lullaby of sweet dreams as
the summer sun sets leisurely on the
horizon in shades of gold and rose etched
with visions of voyages to stars and moons
where life is beyond our wildest notions...

You would not believe how long I searched to find a Pat Poem as yet, not signed off by yours truly.... Characteristic form here from the Mistress of Romance.. and what could this reader want more than the taste of strawberries and love on his lips ..... Your last stanza reminds me so much of West Bay just down the road from me and one of those places I might often be found.. if I'm not in the Cafe that is......

A very romantic poem....

Lush visuals, dying sunsets, scents of flowers and the salt of the sea...... a very aromatic piece of writing.

I think every poem i have read of yours has at least one species of flower in it!

Well written and very delicate on the senses.

This is precious, the scents, (love peonies), the use of lulling desires, adore "the taste of strawberries and love", yum, it's so fine.

This poem is beautiful not only in the emotions and images it conveys, but also on a sonic level. Read aloud it is just a pleasure to listen to. The only line I have any problem with is line four. The way that you have described that scene is so dripping with tender sweet desire that directly stating that seems to create an awkward break in an otherwise beautiful scene. That being said, keep up the good work and please review one of mine if you get the opportunity.
