At dusk, pods of dolphins come
into the harbor to feed...
Hypnotized by a scalloped coastline
stretching toward the horizon...
our garden includes grapes, kumquats,
avocados, lemons, limes, apples, tomatoes,
and a melange of herbs... baby tears, oregano,
and thyme.
On the northern coast of Laguna Beach...
the Artemisia wreathes the cedar doors
opening into the garden.
On the home's sea side iceberg roses
lace the steps.
A curtain of poet's jasmine, fragrant
white flowers tumble from an iron
awning outside the front door.
Olive trees lend an aire of old old
Europe.
We embrace the view with passion
giving a gentle persuasion of lustful
evenings and cool breezes.
This morning I arose & started a poem before dawn . . . hard to believe it's still dark at 6 am these days! As I wheeled into kitchen for more coffee, I noticed light spilling over chaparrel-covered ridge but then I zoomed right by. Finally, seeing my back deck with so many plants shimmering in the first rays, that got my attention! I need to slow down & take it all in! That's what your poem spells out to me -- those moments when we stop rushing thru tasks & slowly take it all in, as if this might be our last moment to embrace such a gift! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

It would be lovely to live on the
Pacific Coast with flowers and a
garden. I did travel the northern
coast and saw dolphins playing on
the rocks. I walked on the beach and
also climbed up onto a rocky ledge with
a friend. The view was breath-taking.

What a wonderful post - it's a painting in words! I live in the UK, so your country is a mystery to me.. seems like a Magic land; and your words explain its beauty and preciousness so wonderfully. Please forward container enclosing scents!
Lovely. Those lusty evenings certainly whisper little nothings to your imagination and skills!

Another mystery of life , I suppose . I know
you have beautiful gardens and flowers in the UK.
We also have lovely perennials and annuals in the
US. My favorites are peonies and dahlias as well as
tiger Lillie's. We both have the sweet Primrose that
Line our garden path. Roses are charming and are a
bond between your country and mine. I
appreciate your lovely review of

Gardens, landscaping, are my living and love, Patricia.. to be honest, am never happier than getting self dirty whilst creating a place for clients or when 'poddling' around in my own little space.. and scents all around, even wet soil, wet grass is magical. Love it! Your gardens with such exotic flowers and fruit etc. you must be absolutely wonderful to have.. am tempted to say i envy you - but am happy enough to enjoy the often growing old fashioned flowers over here! x

Oh wow, your poetry hits me like the strong, hearty fragrance of the sea.. Your phrasing is practically spot on, much like the feel of fresh olives ...These rosemary, and thyme themed rhymes have made me awfully hungry for more of your brilliant poetry, ma'am!!!
I usually choose my favourite lines from every poem, but I am unable to do so for this one.. Every line is my favorite, and every word is used to its's full strength. When I was really young, I read about writers and poets who gained their inspiration from the spirit world, and whose poetry surpassed the mortal poetry..... just saying, ma'am... :))
In my library! :))
