What a romantic, relaxed overture, PAt. Can see it so clearly - near inhale that Shepherds Pie! In fact, you've truly servied up a delicious poem! (sorry!). Apart from the scent of roses and lavender, you could invisibly include Rosemary for ... memories. xx '.. listened to the player piano ~ spilling over in love songs...'

'Antiquity of Love'
Patricia Wedel,
Your title set me up. Love does not get old for we all desire this precious flame. I was tickled with how the age old sweetness flowed off this page. I can imagine the setting with a warm fire in a wood stove and just two people happy in one another's company. The meal starts things well and the melody of Spring.
Blessings,
Kathy

Lovely poem. I am in my summer of life and content to leave the spring behind for now. I do hope the future for me will bring such an elegant vision that you have penned. It gives me hope that love continues.
You write very well. CD

It takes a lot of wisdom to make good decisions. Sometimes we become wise later that sooner. Being a poet will encourage you to be aware. Thanks for your gracious review. truly, Pat
You made me long for the old days. When love was beautiful and intimate and not this hook up generation that rather be on cell phones than making memories together. Simply lovely. Your poem brought to my mind why we love such relationships like Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet. Thanks for sharing. N.

I see you are one of those people who have found a door way into another time. So much more pleasant than today's world. Thank you for the moment. It is a pleasure.
"Scents of lavender and roses... penetrated the evening... ". Wonderful lines. "Antiquity of love" is a very passionate title for the poetry. It reminds poets the time of golden years by the means of olden days. Beautiful work.

It seems like this poem tells a story of a romantic night in three parts. First a lovely dinner, then a passionate time together, and finally sleep. Though at the same time they fit together as a whole entirety.
Life is like a River that includes the sound of Warblers among the trees laden with happiness and tears... Wings take us to places we discover and people who write the Music we love to hear... quietly.. more..
