EnslavedA Poem by Sophie B.
Walking down the road
Teeth chattering and shivering, the air oh so cold Dark shadows cast across the ground An eerie silence all around High alert, poised to defend from the merest peril Logic thrown to the wind, instincts take over, turning me feral A monster lurking around every bend If they’re really there will remain a mystery ‘til the end Heart always racing, like a hamster on a wheel Can the damage be undone? Will I ever heal? Possession leading to obsession With the shadows darting across the wall How allusive they are, if they are even there at all Tricks on my mind the puppet master does play Causing me to accidentally push the world away Fingers of black brume take hold of my brain Squeezing and modifying to the point where I become insane Talons dig into the recesses of my heart Puncturing and ripping it apart As the injuries affect my being I crumble to the floor pleading Dear demon that has come to reside inside me Please leave me be, I need to be free But my pleas fall on deaf ears And all ignore my waterfall of tears Isolate and done Everything out to get me, get ready to run How easy to control I must be When no one can possibly help me Incubus dragging me to hell on Earth faster I have become a marionette to the puppet master Oh demon of fear emancipate your long time slave Who has for so long done nothing but obey Someone please hear my cries For if they are ignored I will soon die Shackles pull me to the ground You throw me in the ocean And laugh as I drown © 2018 Sophie B. |
