Lighthouse

Lighthouse

A Poem by Sophie B.

A small vessel
On stormy seas
The little broken ship that is me
Struggles constantly to reach the shore
Vision blurred through the downpour

Compass long lost
Sense of direction gone
Doomed to disaster
Except after
Rolling in the waves for too long
A glimmer of bright shows all is not gone

Trajectory of land regained
It seems I might escape
A helping hand in the form of beaming light
The lighthouse tower will be my guide
Away from my all consuming plight
That I have suffered through all my life

Lighthouse with your beacon so bright
As you help me through this endless night
Hope you bring to this broken boat
Your red and white striped tower has wrote
A future where I might stay afloat

Please lighthouse don’t put out your light
Without it how could life be alright
So close to the rocks, danger is ahead
But you guide me around them and somehow I am not dead
Thank you from the inside of my soul
Lighthouse you protected me from the deleterious cold
