That Day In September

That Day In September

A Poem by Sophie B.

Planes falling from the sky
All but few onboard cry
Fire erupts from the tower
Thousands run and jump
Others cower
Screams ring through the air
As last words are said and desperate calls are made

Firefighters rush to save the day
Ash blankets the sky
Choking the happiness of many inside
Death toll is counted
But good is still there
People come together from everywhere
Donating time, money and aid
So many making the trip through the rubble behind the barricade
Sixteen years later we still remember
All those who were hurt, helped or died that day in September
