Most esteemed Excellency

   I have just this day received your letter. I must say that I am disappointed that you believe my presence unnecessary at this time. As I was truely looking forward to rejoining the command by the Ides of April. However I do not dispute the wisdom of your suggestion that I remove Maman from the possibility of danger. It shall be as you suggest.

 I have spoken with Maman on this and she seems very excited. She has already dashed off a lettre to Aunt Jehanne informing her of our impending visit. We plan to leave Narbonne within a sennight* and arrive, God willing, in Lecco by the 13th of the month instant

 Coronae. Looking forward to our evenual reunion.
