   We are most happy to hear of your recovery and look forward to your return. However Captain there is no need for you to rush your departure, we have obtained the services of a competent archery instructor in the person of one Cyril le Fou, formally an itenerate jongleur in my city now an archery sergeant in the army.

  The army is in good shape, well rested, well fed, well provisioned. The French have been quiet as of late no doubt planning a great surprise for us in the coming months. However nephew I feel that this will be a good year for us, something is going to happen that will turn this war completely around. We, I am not speaking of the army but of the whole of Languedoc are going to experience a great event that will, if not end the war, put victory within our grasp--- if we are smart enough and swift enough to take advantage of it.

   Nephew, from all indications we should not see any significent action until the end of Avril. Therefor if you are agreeable, I suggest you take your mama on holiday. I understand that Lombardy is a good place to visit in the spring and your aunt lives near Lecco at the southern tip of Lake Como. Bring her there Captain and leave her when you return, she will be out of danger and your mind will be at ease.

 May le Bon Dieu grant you a peaceful journey, a long, fruitful life and love my friend.

man, this is marvelous, i mean i really did travel to another era with this. honestly?
the only part which doesn't seem to fit is the reference to "mama" which somehow feels out of character for this piece. other than that...tremendous.
