A Love story set against the backdrop of the Albigensian Crusades

"

Introduction:

This is a love story. It takes place in the 13th century A.D. or C.E. if you prefer the newer designation. It uses the Albigensian Crusades as a backdrop as I have stated above. The majority of the action takes place in what is now but was not then southern France. The area covers from the Pyrenees westward to tht Atlantic Ocean and northward to the Loire River. At this time the area was known as Occitania and was made up of small fifes, city states and church holdings. The area was antonymous--- owing allegiance only to local arthority.

The main characters are fictitious, the place names are real and some historical personages are named. However except for what they are credited with in history they have no real part in the story save only that of how their actions shaped history and the outcome of this tale.

Some of which will be told in free verse and some in letter form. The letters end abruptly in 1225 C.E. according to the Julian calendar then in use throughout the western known world which is approxamately two weeks behind the present Gregorian  calendar now in use.

The story begins with a poem in free verse, then the letters up until the year 1220 A.D.

and then the poems return and the story concludes in the year 1225 a good twenty-five or so years before the final  crusade ended.

This will be posted in numbered poems (dated from 1209 to 1225 with gaps in between and dated letters at various intervals in the time it takes for me to conclude the story. So cretiques are welcome and may be posted at the pleasure of those who read this. Please to begin:

Robert, you set this up well. Brilliant concept. Looking forward to reading it all. I have learned, however, from stumbling onto one, unprepared emotionally, to take it slowly. These writings evoke an almost too emotional response in me, so I shall peruse them as I can. Looking forward with anticipation.
