Last Romance

Last Romance

A Poem by Patches I'm not so new anymore.
"

The poet is telling the Lady of his heart that she is his"Last Romance"

"

You are not my first romance

nor my second nor my third

Those who were came and went

green in spring, by autumn spent.

You entered my life

an acquaintance, a friend.

But I desperate thought

this is my final chance

for a heart wrenching,

soul stirring, beautiful

romance.

You smile and I'm captivated

you frown and I'm dead---

You make me laugh,

you make me cry...

for the life of me

I cannot say why.

I live to please you

for you I would die.

You know that I love you.

You don't understand why.

To you it seems futile,

why take such a chance?

Do you not understand?

You are my last romance!

Wow! This held such romance, sad and I agree with Decemberist, happy too! It held that touch of melancholy also, but what I liked the most of it was they way it was brought forth. So different than your other writes and let me tell you this was top notch! Just beautiful..

Well done my friend.

I adore this poem. It made me happy and sad at the same time.

My favorite lines are: "You smile and I'm captivated...you frown and I'm dead---"

I love the truth of all of these words!
