Whether We Will it or No

To the Lady I will love beyond life; to her and for her alone was the pen bit and this poem writ.

From the moment thee offered thy hand

to kiss, mine heart fixed on thee.

I did not know then that I would love thee.

 

Mine heart simply accepted thee

 as naturally as it  accepts

the lifeblood which flows through it.

 

Only a fool would choose to love

Love devastates, devours. But truth is true,

this is something I cannot change, you cannot change

for the heart seeks it's own.

 

Love thee I shall

as long as I breathe

whether I will it or no

whether you will it or no.

 

I will not waste precious moments

fighting conscience, fate, destiny

or whatever else one chooses to call it!

Why fight love? Some people find love and question it to no end, challenge it constantly and they never believe in it. Love takes strength to possess it, takes faith to see it and wisdom to accept it for what it is. I think your poem does this with a touch of old English to help it along. When you do find your love I believe you will hold it for all it is worth. Great write.

I so love the old time writes from way back when. And my dear sir, you do it with grand style. This type is so hard to achieve and make one see the images inside yet within is a touch and sincere piece on the heart of love and what it feels inside ones soul. Just simply beautiful.
