Marian

Marian

A Poem by Patches I'm not so new anymore.
"

a poem about Robin Hood and his lady love Marian

"

Winter or summer 'twas all the same to me

That was before my Marian promised her love to me.

for the freshest air blew through the greenwood

and bid me to live free.

Beneath yon bower while in summer flower

my love and I did lie, alas, alas it did not last

for winter arrived by and by. Thus we said

our fond farewells my Marian and I.

She back to Nottingham went

and left me in the wild, 'twas

winter's foul weather, parted us

by one plus half score miles.

My Love will from her cottage

approach the greenwood once again

'tis beneath the spring flowers dotting

our greenwood bower, that I await my Marian.

Sing! Sing, Alan-a-Dale, a roundelay, a roundelay!

For my Lady Marian doth cometh with the day, sing a song

my friend, a song heralding the birth of spring

and another bolder one for my Lady Marian

Talking about missing someone and excited about their return. What did this Lady Marian do there the first time to you? Not really a question I can only imagine. This was a fun read.
