Flowers

Flowers

A Poem by Tatiana Raudales
"

I was thinking about how gifting flowers to a loved one is similar to a cat giving you a dead bird, since the flowers die quickly after being cut and organized into bouquets.

"
The most passionate gift ever given
For it is the same as
Killing an innocent, beautiful, and
Delicate life for the sake of love
And handing it off as a sweet sentiment

I dream of touching his hair
Softer than any silk or rose petals
Thicker than mine by abundance
Darker than night itself

I'll dream of your sweet sentiments
Of gift giving innocent lives
In the form of a bouquet
What do the flowers speak?

If I were to ask them
I believe they would speak your name
For you are the best gift giver
Of sweet sentiments and trinkets

Here I stand waiting
For the day you'll give me
Those soft lives to hold in the form of
Green stems that taper upwards
Into my sweet sentiments
