we should have gone to the skating rink, shouldn't we have gone skating?

we should have gone to the skating rink, shouldn't we have gone skating?

A Poem by Richard

together we built the sweater

to fight off december

this time we really did, when the curtain yawned, like always

i yawned through

yielded all the lost sleep I had to catch up with

where could you have gone?

the cat snoozed on your lap

my favorite place too

we read from 'the candle'

where the candle gets low and tries to find wax

and cannot find a way back so leaves wax tracks

another day a day with a brand new twist just a new day not a special day

well we contracted or expanded or retreated

we get comfortable and carry on and on and on

breathing with all the other particles saying they love too

the sweater was warm you discovered a blanket

of snow

of deep down intolerance

my great wall of petulance

when you left

a mouse chewed a thread

you called it theft

december WAS harsh all year

you thought you saw frost where frost never been

like the top of that mountain way over our heads

in that cup made of tin the hoof prints within

you were tinsel you sparkle when you move you move me too

my avalanche of uncertainty hangs on no longer

crumbles down i can't explain

i'm inside boiling if you can see

and when you pour sideways and all your hot contents come exposed in the sun

i thought i'd seen it all

I poured myself out then i poured it back in

i don't believe i knew what to do

you've created a monster

that sweater you made

how it fought with its crest in the shield of wind

I couldn't make up my mind

which was the most perfect day

the look on your face

I choose you, don't worry

but i do worry

i really do

and i worry

i hold on to it

until i can't
