the bracelet (never)

the bracelet (never)

A Poem by Richard

She never takes it off

except in the dark

when the wind blows cool and the clouds they travel

outside her windowless window

and the locket around her neck gets unravelled

where the water travels

and she sleeps sometimes for days

never once turning over on her cheek

she's a bedrock

and dreams are just a vacation

to unknown destinations

with cartographers and landmakers

and a giant pillow

and a boy

and a glass of water

a scholar in a funny mood

and no way to taste food

she never takes it off

because it's always dark

and around her wrist, a carving

covered up by a bracelet
