Svetlana

Svetlana

A Poem by Richard

Svetlana.

you come down smiling

and my ears perk up

like I've just come home again

for the very first time

when you open your mouth

lovebirds fly out

and straighten my spine

and have a picnic oh my nerves

and i listen for once

still move twice as fast

but notice something strange about myself

and pay close attention

because you are a woman

who respects my demands

or commands my respect

and I am a person

who doesn't know the difference, I suspect

and all the times i've been desperately alone

i can almost read your lips "and why?"

i think about your carefree hips

they swivel with a secret

secretly, that's how i feel

like maybe you know something nobody else does

a thing or two about structure

how to really go free

and why it feels so good just to be.

I love the metaphors in this and the girl being free, it makes you wonder what we're all missing
